Dong-Eui University of Science, 15th Reading Reflection Contest Award Ceremony Held

The Academic Information Department of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do) held the award ceremony for the '2024 15th DIT Reading Essay Contest' on the 4th.


This contest was planned to enhance logical creativity and thinking skills through reading and writing among enrolled students. The selected books for the grand prize included seven titles chosen by the university itself: If One Day We Look at the Same Star (author Cha In-pyo), Life is a Moment (author Kim Sung-geun), If I Had Only One Morning Left (author John Ryland), I Read, Write, and Discard (author Son Woong-jung), Strong Words I Tell You (author Kim Jong-won), The Selfish Gene (author Richard Dawkins), and The Old Man and the Sea (author Hemingway).


The Academic Information Department received submissions from October 1 to November 11, with a total of 167 reading essays submitted. After a rigorous review process, 27 essays were selected as the final winners. All awardees received certificates along with a monetary prize.


At the ceremony, Park Se-ri, a student from the Department of Social Welfare and Care Services, who read If One Day We Look at the Same Star and organized her thoughts and feelings coherently, received the grand prize, the Seokdang Award. Other winners included Lee Hyun-ji and two others from the Department of Nursing who received the Hwangryeong Award; Moon Hyo-jung and three others from the Department of Health Convergence Welfare who received the Mirae Award; Park Sung-sik and six others from the Department of Chemical Engineering who received the Changjo Award; and Yoon Kyung-hyang and eleven others from the Social Welfare Convergence Division who received the Tamgu Award.


Park Se-ri, the recipient of the Seokdang Award, said, “Through this contest, I realized once again how important it is to read books and express the emotions felt within them through writing. I will continue to cultivate more thoughts through reading and strive to grow alongside books.”


The Academic Information Department of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology conducts various reading promotion programs to strengthen students’ reading abilities, including the ‘Academic Electronic Information Expo,’ ‘Library Reading Challenge,’ ‘Selection of Outstanding Library Users,’ and ‘Library Joy Day Events.’
