Personal Donation of 3 Billion Won Over 3 Years

Singer and producer Park Jin-young has become an inspiration to many by donating 1 billion KRW of his personal funds to cover medical expenses for underprivileged children and adolescents. It is reported that Park has donated a total of 3 billion KRW over three years, giving 1 billion KRW annually since 2022.

On the 11th, JYP Entertainment announced that the day before, a donation ceremony was held at the JYP Entertainment headquarters in Seongnae-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, to deliver funds supporting medical expenses for vulnerable groups in Korea. The 1 billion KRW, raised from Park’s personal funds, was distributed equally with 200 million KRW each to five regional hospitals in Korea (Yonsei Medical Center, Gangneung Asan Hospital, Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, Busan Paik Hospital, Jeju National University Hospital). The funds will be used for the treatment and rehabilitation of children and adolescents with severe rare incurable diseases.

Park said, "I have two daughters, aged five and four. I have had an interest in children for a long time, and when my daughters sometimes get sick and have to go to the hospital, it makes me feel very heavy-hearted. I thought about how difficult it must be for parents financially, so I decided to donate for medical expenses." He added, "I ask that children who need help continue to receive good treatment, and I will keep working hard to donate even more."

It is known that Park has donated 1 billion KRW annually since 2022 for the treatment of children and adolescents. In 2022, he donated a total of 1 billion KRW, with 500 million KRW each to Samsung Medical Center and the international relief and development NGO World Vision, to support surgeries, transplants, and treatment for children with congenital rare incurable diseases both domestically and abroad. Last year, hoping that children would not lose their dreams just because they were sick, he donated a total of 1 billion KRW, giving 200 million KRW each to five hospitals including Samsung Medical Center. At that time, Park explained his reason for donating, saying, "As a father raising children, I feel heartbroken thinking about how hard it must be for children to be sick and how overwhelming it must be if their families also lack the funds for treatment. I decided to deliver the funds to hospitals so that they can be used directly for children in need of medical expenses."

From 2022 to 2024, the amount Park donated to nine domestic hospitals and one NGO has reached 3 billion KRW as publicly known. Through this, 276 children not only in Korea but also in Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines have received help.
