The Office of Education operates 153 Gyeonggi Education Research Associations (hereafter referred to as research associations) aiming for ‘Gyeonggi teachers who learn and research together,’ based on teachers’ autonomy. In 2024, it is newly organizing 250 digital-based teacher research groups to support changes in digital-based classroom instruction.
This event was held under the theme ‘Hub of Educational Research! Expansion of Future Education!’ Throughout the year, spaces for experience, promotion, and exhibition were prepared to share research results of the associations and apply them in school settings, along with stage events.
About 700 people attended, including Superintendent Lim Tae-hee, officials in charge of research associations at the Office of Education, teachers belonging to research associations, and interested teachers. The main event was not only attended on-site but also live-streamed on the Office of Education’s YouTube channel to enable many teachers to participate together.
Especially during the stage event, various programs were prepared to share the research associations’ activities, including ▲a collaboration between an AI drum-playing robot developed by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and a teacher ▲sharing cases of research association operations ▲a stage discussion with Superintendent Lim Tae-hee ▲and performances such as science magic, dance, and musicals.
In his greeting, Superintendent Lim said, “While conducting the UNESCO International Forum, I thought that Gyeonggi education could receive the world’s highest evaluation if entrusted to the hands of Gyeonggi educators,” adding, “I want to say that you here today are the very power of Gyeonggi education, so you should take pride in that.”
When asked about plans to revitalize the education research associations, he emphasized, “We will make the research associations a permanent education innovation system to serve as the foundation for building a healthy Gyeonggi education ecosystem,” and added, “Once the construction of the Jowon Office Building is completed, it will be made a space that all educational families and teachers in the province can use at any time, and the media education center space in the northern region will also be utilized for research association activities.”
Superintendent Lim said, “Those of you participating in the education research associations are engaged in research activities that can create the best educational content in the world,” and urged, “The Office of Education will support your research activities. Each of you will become both producers and consumers of content, and I hope you will take the lead in creating a better Gyeonggi education ecosystem.”
Meanwhile, the Education Capacity Policy Division of the Office of Education has designated this week as the ‘Education Capacity Policy Division Intensive Achievement Sharing Week’ and is actively sharing the results of the 2024 academic year Gyeonggi teachers’ capacity-building programs.
