JCS: "This is not a search and seizure of the JCS"
The police, as part of a forced investigation targeting President Yoon Seok-yeol on charges of treason related to the emergency martial law situation, have launched a search and seizure of facilities and equipment used by the martial law troops.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated on the 11th, "We are discussing the search and seizure of facilities and equipment used by the former Martial Law Command," and clarified, "This is not a search and seizure of the Joint Chiefs of Staff." As of 15:40, it is reported that the search team has not entered the headquarters.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff Command and Control Room is located in a building jointly used by the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, adjacent to the former Ministry of National Defense building, which houses the Presidential Office. The Joint Chiefs of Staff Command and Control Room has a permanently installed 'Martial Law Situation Room.'
Earlier, the police special unit began attempting a search and seizure of the Presidential Office around 11:48 a.m. today. However, due to delays in coordination with the Security Office, a standoff has continued for over three hours. The police personnel deployed for the search number 18, targeting four locations: the venue for the Cabinet meeting, the President’s office, the Secretariat, and the Security Office.
Regarding this, a police special unit official said, "Consultations with the Presidential Office have not yet reached a conclusion."
