Korea East-West Power held a completion ceremony for the 'Daehoho Floating Solar Power Plant' at the Dangjin Power Headquarters Energy Campus on the 11th, embarking on an energy transition to usher in a carbon-free, eco-friendly energy era.
The event was attended by executives from Korea East-West Power, Jeong Kyungrok, Director of Renewable Energy Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Han Hyunkyo, Director of Economic and Industrial Affairs at Seosan City, Yoo Huijong, Head of the New and Renewable Energy Center at the Korea Energy Agency, and about 30 others.
The Daehoho Floating Solar Power Plant is an eco-friendly green energy facility that produces approximately 130 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to supply power to around 38,000 households, making active use of idle space on the surface of Daehoho Lake.

In particular, by undergrounding all transmission lines (7.8 km), conflicts with local stakeholders have been minimized. In addition, to revitalize the Seosan region's economy, profits generated from 4 MW of the total 98 MW solar power capacity will be shared with local residents for 20 years.
Furthermore, an observatory has been installed on the rooftop (third floor) of the power plant's control building, allowing any local resident who wishes to visit to view the vast solar installations on the surface of Daehoho Lake.
Kwon Myungho, CEO of East-West Power, stated, "The Daehoho Floating Solar Power Plant is a collaborative model between public institutions conducted with Korea Rural Community Corporation and a profit-sharing business model with the local community, serving as an exemplary case for the expansion of renewable energy projects. We will continue to pursue mutual growth with the local community through various means, such as supporting marine environment improvement projects and purchasing local agricultural products."
In addition, since 2021, the Dangjin Power Headquarters has been promoting environmental facility performance improvement projects and coal yard enclosure projects, continuing its efforts to produce clean energy.
