Daejeon Secures KRW 4.4514 Trillion in Next Year's Government Budget... Up 4.1% Daejeon City Hall

Daejeon City announced that it has secured 4.4514 trillion won in next year's government budget, an increase of 4.1% (177.4 billion won) compared to this year.

Among next year's government budget allocations are projects related to new growth industries, including 5 billion won for the establishment of open quantum process infrastructure, 3 billion won for the Quantum Computing Quantum Transition Scale-up Valley Development Project, and 2.1 billion won for the construction of EUV inspection equipment technology and infrastructure.

In addition, long-awaited projects for Daejeon citizens have been included, such as 58.6 billion won in facility expenses for next year's Urban Railway Line 2 tram, 38.4 billion won for the first phase construction of the Chungcheong Region Metropolitan Railway, and 9 billion won for the opening of a road between Jeonglim Middle School and Beodnae Bridge. Although an additional 125.9 billion won was requested for the Urban Railway Line 2 tram project, it was not reflected in the budget.

Furthermore, due to the failure of the National Assembly's budget increase review, several projects have been put on hold, including the Space Industry Cluster Human Resources Development (5.8 billion won), the Webtoon IP Advanced Cluster Creation Project (1.5 billion won), the construction of the Western Region Veterans Recreation Center (100 million won), the construction of the National Forest Disaster Safety Education and Training Center (930 million won), facility reinforcement for the Korea Freedom Federation Freedom Hall (2.1 billion won), and the establishment of a wireless communication network for Urban Railway Line 1 (6.47 billion won).

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, "Despite difficult circumstances, we were able to achieve good results thanks to the proactive efforts of Daejeon City officials to secure the budget and cooperation with local politicians," adding, "For the projects that were not increased in this National Assembly, we will make every effort to ensure they are reflected in the 2025 government supplementary budget."
