After seeing his neatly trimmed nails, the elderly man admired them, saying, "They're pretty." Then he asked in English, "How much?" Mr. A replied, "Since it took less than 30 minutes, I won't charge you." However, the man insisted, "I can't just leave. Let's say it took 30 minutes," and took out a 5,000 won bill, saying, "I'll give you what I want to give."
Despite Mr. A's attempts to refuse, the man handed over the money, saying, "I'll come again next time." Mr. A later said about the money, "It was enough for three visits," and added, "You have to come again. Take care not to catch a cold," as he saw the customer off. The video attracted over 900,000 views, drawing much attention from netizens.
Later, on the 21st of last month, Mr. A shared a video of the man's second visit. In this video, the identity of the elderly customer was revealed. He is a 93-year-old grandfather and a Korean War veteran. Mr. A said he used to worry about the rent whenever he saw the empty salon while passing by.
Mr. A said, "At the first visit, I told him he could come two more times for free after paying 5,000 won, but today he gave me 10,000 won again." He added, "I asked why he didn't trim his toenails, thinking he might be shy to mention it, and he said they were still okay. I promised to trim his toenails next time."
In the video, the elderly man repeatedly praises, "They're pretty. You trim them very nicely. I can't do it like this." When Mr. A said, "People liked the video of you trimming your nails online," the man smiled and said, "Thank you."
On the 5th, a third video was released. This time, the man's Korean War veteran cap was also shown. The man brought egg bread and shared it with Mr. A and other customers, and Mr. A shared rice cakes, creating a warm atmosphere.
Mr. A said, "The grandfather's house is two minutes away from the nail salon, and he passes by our shop every week when he goes for a bath." He added, "When our eyes meet, I invite him in for a warm cup of tea. He shyly comes in and shares stories about the Korean War for a long time before leaving." This video also recorded over 1 million views.
One netizen who watched the videos commented, "Elderly people find it really difficult to trim their nails and toenails. They often bleed a lot. I used to help my grandfather until he passed away," and added, "My grandfather was also a veteran and cared a lot about his appearance when he was alive. I miss him."
