1.09261 trillion won... Up 7% from this year's 713.1 billion won
The Democratic Party of Korea has reduced next year's government budget by 4.1 trillion won, yet Chungnam Province has managed to secure the largest amount of national funds for the coming year.
This achievement is attributed to Governor Kim Tae-heum's extensive network across party lines and his proactive sales-oriented administration.
On the 11th, Chungnam Province announced that it has secured 10.9261 trillion won in government funding for next year, a 7% increase (713.1 billion won) compared to this year.
Key projects in the 'Vigorously Growing Economy' sector include: 18 billion won for the development and ecosystem establishment of weaponized light-emitting display technology; 1 billion won for supporting overseas expansion of bio-medical devices and zero trust; 20 billion won for the 2024 Glocal University (Konyang University); 51.9 billion won for the improvement of the Janghang Line; and 20.7 billion won for the construction of the Gonan-Changgi road.
In the 'Region-Led Development' sector, 1.5 billion won has been allocated for the Taean International Horticultural Healing Expo, and 2 billion won for the construction of the Korea Polytechnic University Marine and Fisheries Campus.
The province focused on balanced development projects that leverage regional characteristics, such as fostering tourism and new industries utilizing West Coast marine resources, and supporting the future growth of agriculture and fisheries.
In the 'Warm Community Together' sector, 5 billion won has been allocated for the reconstruction of Seocheon Specialized Market, 200 million won for the establishment of a new Western Senior Protection Center, 300 million won for a new Child Protection Agency, and 70 billion won for disaster risk area maintenance. These initiatives are expected to enhance the provision of medical and welfare services without blind spots, create an equitable childcare environment, and strengthen resident safety systems.
Projects under 'Valuable and Dignified Life' focus on establishing a cultural and artistic foundation, promoting history, culture, and tourism, and supporting various sports activities. These include 1 billion won for the creation of a tidal flat ecological trail in Garorim Bay Marine Protected Area, 1 billion won for the K-Heritage Valley project, 8.3 billion won for the Western Inland Tourism Promotion Project, and 7.6 billion won in support for the 2027 Summer World University Games.
In addition, the province plans to continue efforts to ensure that major core projects not increased in the National Assembly?such as the Chungnam National University Naepo Campus, the establishment of a Science Gifted School in Chungnam Innovation City, the construction of Asan Police Hospital, the establishment of the National Dental Research Institute in Cheonan, the National Cemetery in the Chungnam region, and the National Defense Future Technology Research Center?are reflected in next year's supplementary budget or the 2026 government budget.
