"How Many Precious Lives Have Been Lost"
"If the Right-Wing Camp Collapses, Korea Will Collapse"
"Even If the President Is Punished, We Must Protect the People Power Party"
Park Jung-hoon, a member of the People Power Party known as a close ally of Han Dong-hoon, criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying he is "someone who would do worse than martial law."
On the 11th, Park posted a critical message about Lee Jae-myung on his social media account. He said, "Any citizen with common sense would agree that Lee Jae-myung is someone who would do worse than martial law," adding, "How many unfortunate lives have been sacrificed because of his mistakes?" He continued, "I hate to even think about it, but when I recall the 'Lee Jae-myung government,' it overlaps with Cambodia's dark history, the 'Killing Fields,'" and asked, "Didn't Representative Choi Min-hee already say, 'If you move, you all die'?"
Park stated, "During the Moon Jae-in administration, brutal political retaliation was carried out, and you may remember that the innocent Commander Lee Jae-soo took his own life," adding, "Lee Jae-myung will definitely do worse than Moon Jae-in. He will try to wipe out the right-wing seed." He also emphasized, "If the right-wing camp collapses here, the Republic of Korea will collapse," and said, "Even if President Yoon Seok-yeol receives legal punishment for his mistakes, we must protect the People Power Party, the stronghold of the right-wing."
Earlier, on the 7th, a vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon was held in the National Assembly. However, most People Power Party members left without participating in the vote, causing the motion to fail due to a lack of the required quorum (200 members). On the afternoon of the 11th, after a party meeting, the Democratic Party told reporters that they plan to submit a second impeachment motion on the 12th and attempt a plenary vote at 5 p.m. on the 14th. Kang Yoo-jung, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, explained, "There is no significant change from the previous impeachment motion." However, some suggest that the second motion will include specific testimonies and circumstances regarding President Yoon's illegal declaration of martial law and 'acts of rebellion.' If concrete charges of rebellion are specified, it is analyzed that this will place a considerable burden on People Power Party members opposing the motion. Unlike the previous vote, where the party collectively abstained, it is expected that members may vote freely based on a party stance of 'rejection.' The party is currently reportedly considering strategies to respond to the second vote.
