This is due to concerns arising from a developer opening a promotional center and putting up banners in the Seongnam area to recruit members for a private rental housing project related to the Ssangryeong-dong urban development project.
Gwangju City clarified that the Ssangryeong-dong urban development project currently has no confirmed matters such as designation of an urban development zone or approval of development plans under the Urban Development Act, nor any private rental housing permits or approvals under the Housing Act and the Special Act on Private Rental Housing.
Additionally, the city is actively promoting precautions when signing up for membership through media reports, SNS (blogs, Instagram, Facebook) promotions, and pop-up windows on the Gwangju City Hall website to protect citizens' property.
Furthermore, Gwangju City has communicated these precautions to neighboring local governments including Seongnam, Hanam, Yongin, and Icheon, and has notified the Fair Trade Commission and the Korea Consumer Agency to actively protect citizens' property.
Along with this, the city has established a plan for a comprehensive cleanup of illegal advertisements, conducting maintenance not only on weekdays but also on weekends. Fines have been imposed for illegal banners found during the cleanup, and illegal advertisements on buses, which are transportation advertising media, have been restored to their original state through correction orders.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “To protect citizens' property, please be sure to verify with Gwangju City (Housing Division, Urban Project Division) whether permits or approvals have been granted regarding private rental housing.”
