Vienna-Berlin Chamber to Tour Korea in February Next Year... Performances in 7 Cities

Seoul Arts Center Performance on February 4, Next Year

The Vienna-Berlin Chamber Orchestra will hold its second concert tour in Korea since 2023 at the Seoul Arts Center on February 4 next year. This is part of their Korean tour in February, with performances scheduled in a total of seven cities.

The Vienna-Berlin Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2008 by principal players from the two world-renowned orchestras, the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. The joint performance in 2005 was the catalyst. In 2005, to celebrate the 50th birthday of Simon Rattle, then principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, members of the Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic performed together at the Vienna Konzerthaus, which later led to the establishment of the chamber orchestra.

Reiner Honeck, concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic who has led the orchestra for over 30 years, serves as the artistic director of the Vienna-Berlin Chamber Orchestra. Honeck will personally perform Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4 during the concert in February next year.

At the February concert in Korea, the orchestra will perform Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 10, Haydn's Symphony No. 59, Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4, and Symphony No. 29.

The Vienna-Berlin Chamber Orchestra puts great effort into discovering hidden masterpieces that are rarely performed, such as Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 10 and Haydn's Symphony No. 59, which will be featured in this Korean tour.

The Vienna-Berlin Chamber Orchestra's Korean tour will begin on February 3 at the Jeju Arts Center. Following the performances in Jeju and Seoul, concerts will continue at Ulsan Hyundai Arts Center (5th), Daegu Concert House (6th), Gumi Culture and Arts Center (7th), Jeonju Korean Sori Culture Center (8th), and Gyeongju Arts Center (9th).

Paid members of the Arts Center can pre-book tickets on the Arts Center website starting today at 4 PM. General ticket sales will begin on the 12th at 4 PM through Interpark, the Arts Center, and Yes24.
