‘Silent Protest’ in Front of the People Power Party Gwangju Branch

At 1 p.m. on the 11th, a solemn silence filled the area in front of the People Power Party Gwangju City Party Office in Seo-gu, Gwangju. On this day, city and district council members and party officials affiliated with the Democratic Party of Korea held a silent protest, holding placards with phrases such as "Immediately Arrest the Leader of the Rebellion" and "Impeach Yoon Seok-yeol" instead of the usual microphones seen at rallies.

Some passersby watched the unfamiliar rally scene with curious eyes. One citizen said, "When I think of rallies, noisy scenes come to mind, so this is unfamiliar," adding, "On the contrary, the silence seems to convey a stronger message."

After the approximately 30-minute protest ended, the Democratic Party side shouted slogans such as "Arrest Yoon Seok-yeol, the leader of the December 3 rebellion."

Oh Young-soon, a council member from Nam-gu who participated in the silent protest following a head-shaving ceremony on the 9th, said, "I joined to show a resolute will and to continue the momentum of the struggle, even if it means shaving my head," adding, "Ordinary citizens also come out to the square in the cold winter instead of resting after work. I am always grateful." She emphasized, "We will continue the struggle until Yoon Seok-yeol is arrested, detained, and held legally accountable."

Meanwhile, the Korean Metal Workers' Union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions plans to hold a rally at 3 p.m. in front of the People Power Party Gwangju City Party Office to call for the impeachment of Yoon Seok-yeol.
