Application of Line 1 and Light Rail Transit in the District
To Be Implemented After System Development and Procedures
Uijeongbu City will participate in Seoul City's Climate Companion Card program. Starting with a business agreement and going through procedures such as system development, the Climate Companion Card is expected to be applied to the subway and light rail passing through Uijeongbu.
On the afternoon of the 11th, Seoul City and Uijeongbu City signed a 'Business Agreement for Participation in the Climate Companion Card Project' at Seoul City Hall. Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun discussed strengthening the metropolitan transportation cooperation system between the two cities at this meeting.
On January 26, one day before the pilot operation of the 'Climate Companion Card,' the unlimited public transportation pass introduced nationwide for the first time by Seoul City, promotional flyers for the Climate Companion Card were posted at Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5 in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Seoul City has so far signed business agreements for the Climate Companion Card with seven regions. Among them, the regions where the Climate Companion Card has been fully applied are Gimpo, Gwacheon, Goyang, Namyangju, and Guri, totaling five locations. Incheon and Gunpo have signed business agreements and are in discussions for actual application.
In the case of Uijeongbu City, it is evaluated as a central area in northern Gyeonggi Province and geographically adjacent to northern Seoul, with a high connection to essential living areas such as commuting. With the broad connection between Uijeongbu, which has 460,000 citizens, and Seoul, it is expected that transportation convenience in the metropolitan area will be greatly improved.
After the agreement on this day, through procedures such as system development, the Climate Companion Card will be applied to Line 1 and the Uijeongbu Light Rail within Uijeongbu. Line 1 includes five stations: ▲Mangwolsa ▲Hoeryong ▲Uijeongbu ▲Ganeung ▲Nokyang, and the Uijeongbu Light Rail includes 15 stations from Tapseok to Balgok. Jangam Station on Line 7 already provides the Climate Companion Card service.
