Now in its 26th year, the WCA is a global telecommunications technology awards ceremony hosted by the UK telecommunications media outlet 'Total Telecom.' The event selects companies that have achieved outstanding accomplishments in a total of 23 fields, including telecommunications-related technology, networks, brands, and content.

SKT won the Future Innovation Award for its AI-based base station wireless transmission and reception technology, jointly researched and developed with NTT DoCoMo, NTT, and Nokia Bell Labs. The Future Innovation Award is given to telecommunications companies or manufacturers that lead the most outstanding future technological innovations related to telecommunications.

Through global collaboration, SKT applied AI models commonly used in vision AI to the base station's modulation and demodulation transmission and reception technology, improving frequency utilization efficiency. In laboratory environments, an average speed improvement of over 10% was confirmed, and SKT plans to achieve substantial performance improvements in commercial networks through continuous research and development and standardization activities.

Ryu Tak-gi, head of SKT's infrastructure technology division, stated, "We will continue to lead the development of core technologies for the evolution of mobile communications, such as telco edge AI infrastructure technology and power-saving technology, and do our best to provide new value to customers."
