Chungnam Province to Invest 48.8 Billion Won in Permanent Restoration of Nonsan Masancheon and Wangamcheon Rivers

Chungnam Province announced that it will invest a total project cost of 48.8 billion KRW (including 39.9 billion KRW in national funds) to carry out permanent restoration in Masancheon and Wangamcheon in Nonsan City, which suffered large-scale flooding damage due to record-breaking heavy rains last July.

To this end, the Provincial Construction Headquarters held a briefing session on the commencement of the detailed design service for the local river disaster restoration project for Masancheon and Wangamcheon with Nonsan City Hall officials on the 11th.

The briefing was organized to implement permanent improvements and restoration to protect the lives and property of residents and prevent the recurrence of flood damage around the rivers, in accordance with the restoration plan established by the province.

For Masancheon, 25.7 billion KRW will be invested to reconstruct 3.649 km of embankments and revetments and seven bridges, while for Wangamcheon, 23.1 billion KRW will be used to reconstruct 4.08 km of embankments and revetments and four bridges.

The Construction Headquarters plans to hold resident briefings, gather residents' opinions, and obtain land use consent forms from landowners before compensation, aiming to start construction promptly to prevent the recurrence of flood damage.

A provincial official stated, "We will do our utmost to promptly implement this disaster restoration project to protect the lives and property of residents from natural disasters such as floods."
