LG Electronics Releases 'US Endangered Species Protection Campaign' Featuring Red Wolf

New Video Released on Times Square Billboard in the US
Theme Selection Reflecting Customer Survey Results Next Year

LG Electronics will continue its endangered animal protection campaign, which has been conducted against the backdrop of New York's Times Square, next year as well. The campaign will focus on animals chosen directly by global customers, with the aim of practicing the ESG management vision 'Better Life for All' together with customers.


On the 9th (local time), LG Electronics announced on the 11th that it unveiled a new video for the 'Endangered Animal Protection Campaign with LG' on the Times Square billboard in New York, USA.

This video highlights the severity of forest ecosystem destruction through the image of the 'Red Wolf,' which has lost its habitat due to indiscriminate logging. The Red Wolf is classified as 'Critically Endangered' on the IUCN Red List and is estimated to have only about 20 individuals remaining in the wild in North Carolina, USA. It is characterized by a smaller size than common wolves and reddish fur.


This campaign uses 3D representations of animals endangered by climate change on the Times Square billboard to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and to alert the public about carbon emissions and global warming. So far, videos featuring the snow leopard (April), bald eagle (July), and sea lion (September) have been showcased, informing approximately 50 million Times Square visitors about the importance of environmental protection. LG Electronics has also collaborated with the National Wildlife Federation and global education specialist Discovery Education to produce educational materials on endangered animals, which are distributed online for free.


Encouraged by customer responses to this year’s campaign, LG Electronics has decided to select next year’s campaign theme based on global customer opinions. In December, customer surveys will be conducted on the official campaign website and LG Electronics North America’s Instagram to determine the themes for next year’s campaign. A total of four endangered animals will be selected based on the results. The purpose is to raise awareness about carbon emissions and environmental destruction through animal themes chosen directly by customers and to encourage active public participation.


Jung Kyu-hwang, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics North America, said, "We will empathize with more people for a sustainable global ecosystem," adding, "We will continue to carry out effective campaigns next year to raise awareness about environmental protection and the importance of biodiversity."
