Emergency Reporting and Other Services Available via Seoul City Ansim-i App
New Public Design Applied for 'Night Safety' → Enhances Crime Prevention Effectiveness
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) installed 328 smart security lights this month around the Banghak 2-dong Dokkaebi Market area.
The installation target areas include Dodang-ro 13na-gil to Dobong-ro 151-gil, designated by the district as crime prevention enhancement zones to prevent abnormal crimes.
The district has designated and is managing a total of five crime prevention enhancement zones, including this area: the vicinity of Duksung Women's University, Dobong 1-dong area, Banghak 2-dong Dokkaebi Market area, Ssangridan-gil area, and Chang-dong Food Alley area.
Previously, the district installed 264 smart security lights around Duksung Women's University in 2022 and 229 units in Dobong 1-dong in 2023. For the remaining two crime prevention enhancement zones, the district plans to install 350 units as soon as next year’s budget review is completed.
Smart security lights are LED security lamps equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) signal devices, enabling emergency reporting and safe return monitoring services through the Seoul Safe App.
In case of an emergency, when a pedestrian presses the report button on the Seoul Safe App, nearby security lights flash, and the emergency situation is immediately transmitted to the Dobong-gu Integrated Control Center and the nearest police station. A district official stated, “This allows for accurate location identification of the pedestrian, facilitating rapid response such as police dispatch.”
The district newly applied a public design for “nighttime safety.” To enhance not only crime prevention effects but also pedestrians’ psychological stability, multifunctional lighting devices with safety phrases and visualized safety patterns were installed in the installation areas.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We are expanding the installation of smart security lights mainly in residential alleys. We will continue to do our best to build public safety infrastructure for a safe walking environment for our residents.”
