Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 10th that the number of students visiting Jeju for school trips this year has surpassed 280,000.

As of the end of November, 282,809 students from 1,470 schools visited Jeju, and including an additional 700 expected visitors this month, the total number of visitors is projected to reach 283,509 by the end of the year. This is an increase of 6,543 students (2.36%) compared to last year's 276,966 students from 1,494 schools.

This year, Jeju Province has been supporting part of the vehicle rental costs for school trips by accepting prior applications from 42 schools outside the province. The Jeju Safe School Trip Service has been used by 959 schools and approximately 174,000 students to date.

Jeju Province and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Tourism Association (Chairman Kang Dong-hoon) will introduce a new system from next year to support school trips accompanied by safety personnel to enhance safety. This new system, which supports the employment of safety personnel, can be applied for once per school per year, with differential support of up to 700,000 KRW depending on the number of students. To reduce the financial burden on schools, the existing partial support for vehicle rental costs will also be maintained. Each school can choose to receive support for either the employment cost of safety personnel or the vehicle rental cost.

For school trip groups using maritime transportation, promotion support targeting passenger ferry companies based in Jeju will be strengthened through onboard event operations and efforts to encourage bookings both online and offline.

The province plans to continuously improve and expand incentive support policies by systematically monitoring the effects of support and reflecting feedback from schools and parents. Additionally, consultations with related organizations are underway to strengthen the safety of school trips via sea routes.

Kim Hee-chan, Director of Tourism Exchange Bureau of Jeju Province, emphasized, “In 2025, we plan to strengthen school trip support policies with safety and sustainability as core values,” adding, “We will provide students with meaningful memories through Jeju’s unique natural environment and cultural experiences.”
