On October 22, Goseong-gun conducted Safe Korea Training based on the on-site action manual, assuming a large-scale fire caused by a magnitude 5.8 earthquake at the Goseong-gun National Sports Center, a densely populated facility, resulting in 45 casualties and property damage worth 1 billion KRW.

On the day of the training, an integrated linked exercise was conducted simultaneously with a discussion training presided over by the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Chief (County Governor Lee Sang-geun) at the Goseong-gun Office Comprehensive Situation Room, and an on-site training presided over by the Integrated Support Headquarters Chief (Deputy County Governor Park Seong-jun) at the National Sports Center. About 200 participants including police, fire stations, volunteer fire brigades, autonomous disaster prevention groups, and county citizen experience teams systematically carried out the process of rescue, recovery, and restoration.

The Disaster Response Safe Korea Training is a national comprehensive exercise aimed at establishing a nationwide total disaster response system, conducted annually targeting local governments, public institutions, and government ministries across the country.

This year’s training was conducted in two phases, first and second half of the year, and the evaluation results were determined through meta-evaluation by the central evaluation team after preliminary evaluation, on-site evaluation, and post-evaluation by expert evaluators based on three evaluation indicators: training planning and design, training implementation, and training evaluation and feedback.

County Governor Lee Sang-geun said, “We will continue to strengthen disaster response capabilities and do our best to protect the lives and property of our residents through continuous establishment of disaster response systems and conducting disaster preparedness training.”
