'K-Global Venture Capital Summit' Held
On the 10th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held the 'K-Global Venture Capital Summit 2024' and held a 'Global Venture Investment Meeting' with more than 70 stakeholders, including 51 global venture capital firms visiting Korea.
The 'K-Global Venture Capital Summit 2024' is a global venture capital exchange and cooperation event held in collaboration with the UK media company Global Corporate Venturing (GCV), and is held in conjunction with 'ComeUp 2024.'
To attend this summit, a large delegation of 51 venture capital firms from 13 countries around the world arrived in Korea. It was held successfully, with the largest number of global venture capital firms participating in a single event to date.
In particular, more than 10 prominent investment institutions with assets under management (AUM) exceeding 1 trillion won participated, including Pavilion Capital, a subsidiary of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek, corporate venture capitals (CVCs) of global conglomerates such as Salesforce and Aramco, confirming Korea as a key player in the Asian venture investment ecosystem.
The summit includes a global venture investment meeting, domestic and international VC networking, CVC workshops, and K-Global Star IR. It is especially designed as a networking program to facilitate practical investment cooperation between 30 domestic venture capital firms and 51 global venture capital firms participating.
The global venture investment meeting introduced the current status and policy directions of Korea's venture ecosystem to global venture capital stakeholders and collected their opinions on ComeUp and Korea's venture ecosystem.
Dave, a partner at Altara Ventures from Singapore who attended the meeting, said, "Korean startups are famous for their technological capabilities, innovative spirit, and creativity," adding, "We will actively invest more in Korean startups in the future."
At the meeting, Oh Young-joo, Minister of SMEs and Startups, said, "Today’s gathering of global VCs, which serve as a bridge for startups to enter overseas markets, is an excellent opportunity to connect Korea’s dynamic venture and startup ecosystem with the global economy," emphasizing, "The Republic of Korea plans to build a strong partnership with global venture capitals like you."
