KNS, a manufacturer of automated equipment for secondary battery CID, BMA, and CAP, announced on the 10th that it has signed a contract with Japanese pneumatic and robot automation parts specialist company P for robot manufacturing and supply.
KNS Vietnam subsidiary (hereinafter referred to as the company), which pursued the contract, is a Japanese-headquartered manufacturer of pneumatic and robot automation parts, providing optimized solutions across various industries such as semiconductors, electronics, and displays. Based on advanced technology and quality, it is a leading company ranked within the top 5 in market share both domestically in Japan and globally.
Through this supply contract with Japanese company P, the main products to be produced by the company are general Cartesian robot types and LM guide body integrated Cartesian robots. These products are designed to efficiently perform repetitive and precise tasks in the industrial automation sector and demonstrate excellent performance especially in work environments requiring high productivity and precision. The company has signed a contract to produce these products for five years under an OEM arrangement, and specific production volumes are currently under negotiation.
The company plans to have the Vietnam subsidiary take full charge of producing these products and actively utilize the automation equipment manufacturing capabilities centered on the Vietnam subsidiary. In particular, it plans to maximize robot production efficiency by automating certain processes while integrating the vision inspection capabilities of the Korean headquarters to ensure high quality.
Furthermore, the company intends to expand its business scope beyond the Vietnamese market to Southeast Asia and the global market. Especially amid the strengthening of protectionism movements aimed at protecting domestic industries in the global market, demand for automation equipment and robots is expected to steadily increase. KNS plans to proactively respond to these changes by combining its existing automation equipment technology with the manufacturing capabilities of the Vietnam subsidiary to further solidify its position in the global market.
Jung Bong-jin, CEO of KNS, stated, “This supply contract is an important opportunity to secure new competitiveness by combining the company’s vision inspection technology, the manufacturing capabilities of the Vietnam subsidiary, and P company’s advanced robot development technology,” adding, “Based on this supply contract, the company will build a diversified business portfolio and actively pursue customer diversification.”
Meanwhile, to prepare for the continuously increasing local demand and expansion of global market share, the company is carrying out expansion construction of the Vietnam subsidiary’s production plant. Through this expansion, the existing production capacity is expected to double from 10 billion KRW to 20 billion KRW.
