Gyeonggi-do Public Institution Labor Union Federation, Press Conference on Northern Relocation of Public Institutions on the 11th

The Gyeonggi-do Public Institution Labor Union Federation will hold a press conference regarding the relocation of public institutions in the northern region of Gyeonggi-do.


On the 10th, the Gyeonggi-do Public Institution Labor Union Federation announced through a press release that it will hold a "Press Conference on the Promotion of Relocation of Gyeonggi-do Public Institutions" on the 11th at the lobby on the first floor of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Suwon.


In the statement, the federation said, "Since the announcement of the relocation of public institutions by former Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung in February 2021, there has been debate regarding the relocation," and added, "Governor Kim Dong-yeon announced on September 11 that the relocation of public institutions will proceed as planned."


They further explained, "Employees of public institutions, who should work for the residents of Gyeonggi-do, are unsettled by the sudden news of the re-promotion of the relocation," and stated, "Our Gyeonggi-do Public Institution Labor Union Federation, as an organization responsible for protecting the public nature of public institutions on the front lines, is holding this press conference to express our position on the relocation of public institutions."


Earlier, on September 11, Governor Kim Dong-yeon promised at the 'Gyeonggi Northern Great Transformation Project' press conference, "The relocation of public institutions, which is a promise to the northern residents, will be promoted speedily as planned."

Gyeonggi-do decided to sequentially relocate 15 out of 28 public institutions from 2019 to 2021. These institutions include ▲Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation ▲Gyeonggi Environment and Energy Promotion Agency ▲Gyeonggi-do Agricultural and Fishery Promotion Agency ▲Gyeonggi Market and Commercial Promotion Agency ▲Gyeonggi Social Service Agency ▲Gyeonggi Women's and Family Foundation ▲Gyeonggi Research Institute ▲Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency ▲Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation ▲Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation ▲Gyeonggi Job Foundation ▲Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation ▲Gyeonggi Tourism Corporation ▲Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation ▲Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Agency.


Among these, five institutions?Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation (Yangju), Gyeonggi Environment and Energy Promotion Agency (Gimpo), Gyeonggi-do Agricultural and Fishery Promotion Agency (Gwangju), Gyeonggi Market and Commercial Promotion Agency (Yangpyeong), and Gyeonggi Social Service Agency (Yeoju)?completed their relocation by last year.


Of the remaining 10 institutions, eight institutions planned to relocate to northern Gyeonggi?▲Gyeonggi Research Institute ▲Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency ▲Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation ▲Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation ▲Gyeonggi Job Foundation ▲Gyeonggi Tourism Corporation ▲Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Agency ▲Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation?will continue their relocation as originally planned.


First, in 2025, the Gyeonggi Research Institute will move to Uijeongbu, the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency to Paju, and the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation to Namyangju. In 2026, the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation will relocate to Guri; in 2027, the Gyeonggi Job Foundation to Dongducheon; and in 2028, the Gyeonggi Tourism Corporation, Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Agency, and Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation will relocate to Goyang.
