Gyeonggawon, Protecting SMEs' Intellectual Property... Agreement with Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency

The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is partnering with the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency to protect the intellectual property of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province.


On the 10th, the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency announced that it signed a "Business Agreement to Strengthen the Intellectual Property Competitiveness of Companies Located in Gyeonggi-do" with the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency at its headquarters in Gwanggyo, Suwon.


This agreement was established to strengthen the foundation for protecting the intellectual property of SMEs in Gyeonggi-do and to enhance the global competitiveness of local companies based on the expertise of both organizations.


The Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency, a specialized institution under the Korean Intellectual Property Office, is responsible for supporting companies in protecting their intellectual property and resolving disputes.

According to the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate in areas such as ▲expanding mutual support for companies through linked support projects ▲providing local response support via overseas IP centers ▲hosting seminars and other events and collaborating on promotions ▲and promoting cooperative projects for mutual development.


The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency will provide comprehensive support for local SMEs in areas such as startup, commercialization, investment, and export, while the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency will be responsible for local response and intellectual property dispute resolution through overseas IP centers.


Following the signing ceremony, the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency held a "Seminar on Strengthening Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Response Capabilities," attended by over 100 representatives from local export companies. The seminar introduced essential overseas patent response strategies for entering the global market and overseas response measures for SMEs' trademarks and designs.


Kang Seong-cheon, head of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, emphasized, "Protecting intellectual property is a critical issue directly linked to the competitiveness of SMEs," adding, "We will revitalize the regional economy and lead sustainable development by strengthening the intellectual property competitiveness of SMEs in Gyeonggi-do."
