Minister Yoon In-chon Cancels Japan Trip Due to Emergency Martial Law Aftermath

Plans to Attend if Summoned by the National Assembly

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 10th that Minister Yuinchon’s business trip to Japan, scheduled from the 13th to the 15th, has been canceled. It was reported that it was deemed inappropriate for him to be absent while the National Assembly was questioning urgent issues related to the emergency martial law situation.

Minister Yu plans to attend the standing committee inquiries, including the National Assembly Steering Committee scheduled for the 10th, 11th, and 13th, if his presence is requested. Originally, he was scheduled to attend and deliver a congratulatory speech at the reopening ceremony of the Korean Cultural Center in Osaka, Japan, on the 13th. Additionally, on the 14th and 15th, he planned to participate in the Korea-Japan-China Sports Ministers’ Meeting in Tokyo to discuss matters related to the promotion of sports exchanges and cooperation.


Due to Minister Yu’s absence, the Director of the International Cultural Promotion Policy Office at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will attend the reopening ceremony of the Korean Cultural Center in Osaka and the Korea-Japan-China Sports Ministers’ Meeting on his behalf.
