Political Stability TF Proposes Two Plans
Roadmap for March Resignation with May Election and April Resignation with June Election Presented
Expected to Discuss at Today's Party Meeting
On the 10th, the People Power Party held a party members' meeting where they discussed the roadmap submitted by the Task Force (TF) for political stabilization, which included options such as ▲resignation in March followed by a presidential election in May ▲resignation in April followed by a presidential election in June. Although there is a possibility that no conclusion will be reached due to opposition from pro-Yoon faction lawmakers, voices within the party urging a swift decision on the roadmap have emerged, raising expectations that an agreed-upon roadmap could be announced as early as that afternoon.
The TF held its first meeting at the National Assembly that morning to discuss the proposed plans. Before the party meeting, the TF reported to Representative Han Dong-hoon, who is expected to gather opinions based on this during the meeting.

Within the party, there are calls to finalize and announce the roadmap before the plenary session on the 14th, when the second impeachment vote against President Yoon is scheduled. Representative Cho Kyung-tae of the People Power Party said to reporters after the senior members' meeting that morning, "Before the second impeachment motion arrives, what (President Yoon) must do immediately is the best solution to resolve the public's confusion, suffering, and mental distress, and I believe it is a stronger solution than impeachment."
In the second vote, unlike the first, it is expected to be difficult to prevent lawmakers from voting as they wish. Signs of defections are already spreading. Representative Bae Hyun-jin of the People Power Party announced through her social media on the same day that she "will participate in the vote this week." Representative Kim Sang-wook held a press conference and stated, "I support the impeachment."
However, it has been reported that there is strong opposition from pro-Yoon faction lawmakers regarding the roadmap proposed by the TF. The pro-Yoon faction is reportedly discussing extending their rule until the 2026 local elections by concurrently pursuing a constitutional amendment to shorten the presidential term. The TF opposes this. TF leader Lee Yang-su explained to reporters after the meeting, "Even if a constitutional amendment to shorten the term is discussed, it would apply from the next presidential election, not this one," clarifying that it is not under the TF's consideration.
