Hungarian Prime Minister Orban Meets Trump and Musk at Mar-a-Lago

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on the 9th (local time) that he met with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

On the same day, Prime Minister Orban stated on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter) that he met with President-elect Trump, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and Congressman Mike Waltz at a meeting held at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, USA.

In Trump's second administration, CEO Musk was appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and Congressman Waltz was appointed National Security Advisor.

Bloomberg reported that this meeting could raise concerns about President-elect Trump's approach to the Ukraine war. President-elect Trump has repeatedly stated that he will pressure for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia immediately upon taking office. This meeting could accelerate the ceasefire efforts.

Prime Minister Orban has shown a close relationship with President-elect Trump since Trump's first administration and is also close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Last month, he stated at an informal European Union (EU) meeting that the U.S. would withdraw from the Ukraine war.

President-elect Trump, who is set to be inaugurated on January 20 next year, recently met with French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and British Prince William at the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame Cathedral in France. He also met with Argentine President Javier Milei and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
