Paju-si Holds Opening Ceremony for Bus Route Centered on Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)

12 Lines and 83 Buses Pass Through ‘GTX Unjeongjungang Station’

Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 10th that it held the 'Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) Central Bus Route Opening Ceremony' on the 9th at Unjeong Happiness Center, attended by about 150 people including Mayor Kim Kyung-il, city council members, and residents.

Since the beginning of the 8th term of Mayor Kim Kyung-il, Paju City has had a firm commitment to public transportation innovation. At the 100-day press conference after his inauguration, he announced the 'Paju City Public Transportation Policy' and has since minimized citizens' inconveniences through various public transportation policies such as Paprika, Ddokbus, and the extension of the Seohae Line.

Among them, the plan to reorganize the 'Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) Central Bus Route' has been promoted over the past two years with active reflection of citizens' opinions. The goal is to achieve the following arrival and dispatch intervals to GTX Unjeong Central Station: ▲ In the Unjeong area, buses arrive within 15 minutes at 10-minute intervals ▲ In the Geumchon area, buses arrive within 30 minutes at 15-minute intervals ▲ In other areas, buses arrive within 60 minutes at 40-minute intervals.

To improve accessibility to GTX Unjeong Central Station, Paju City has promoted the establishment of 5 new routes, changes to 7 routes, and an increase of 47 city/village buses. As a result, 12 routes and 83 buses will serve Unjeong Central Station, enhancing transfer convenience for citizens and reducing travel time, significantly improving the transportation environment. However, until Simhaksan-ro opens, the routes will operate temporarily, and once Simhaksan-ro opens, the routes will be changed and operated according to the original plan.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “The reorganization of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) Central Bus Route is a historic day for Paju City's public transportation along with the opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-A.” He added, “We will connect public transportation throughout Paju centered on Unjeong Central Station to improve the quality of life for Paju citizens and pave the way to becoming a self-sufficient city of one million.”
