Following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for suspected infected animals, the city has implemented quarantine measures including movement restrictions and clinical testing. In accordance with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ plan, a 28-day clinical observation and risk assessment will be conducted before considering lifting the movement restrictions.

Additionally, control posts have been set up along the movement routes of the affected farm, and disinfection vehicles have been deployed for sanitation work. A 24-hour quarantine situation room is operating to maintain an emergency communication system.

Since it was confirmed that feed transport vehicles passed through the affected farm and subsequently visited multiple livestock farms in the region, an epidemiological investigation of the vehicles is underway to prevent disease spread. The city also urged livestock farmers to actively cooperate with the movement restrictions.

Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong stated, “We recognize the seriousness of the Lumpy Skin Disease outbreak in the region and are committed to preventing damage to livestock farms. We will establish an organic cooperation system with related organizations, groups, and farms to implement thorough quarantine measures without any gaps.”

Meanwhile, Lumpy Skin Disease is a viral disease transmitted by blood-sucking insects such as mosquitoes, characterized by skin nodules measuring 2 to 5 cm. It causes significant damage to farms, including reduced milk yield, abortion, and infertility in dairy cows, and is designated as a Class 1 livestock infectious disease in Korea.
