HiSonic Recognized for Quality Excellence in 1st Sample Test by Global Battery Company... "Expecting Benefits from US Localization"

HiSonic announced on the 10th that it has been recognized for the excellence in quality of its prismatic secondary battery components by a global battery company.

According to the company, the prismatic secondary battery components supplied on the 25th of last month received high evaluations in terms of quality and quality control through the first round of testing. Quality was assessed through visual inspection and reliability pressure tests (1.2MPa), while quality control involved process capability (CPK 1.33 or higher) testing, with both criteria successfully passed.

HiSonic plans to increase the supply volume of samples and complete additional testing through R&D collaboration with the client. Given that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and a right of first negotiation have been established with the collaborating global battery company for the North American ESS project, as well as a stronger binding agreement known as the ‘ROLR (Right of Last Refusal),’ the final contract is expected to proceed smoothly.

With the inauguration of the second Trump administration scheduled for January next year, domestic and international battery companies are actively seeking collaboration with secondary battery component suppliers localized in the United States. During his campaign, Trump advocated imposing a universal tariff of 10-20% on all imports and an additional 60% tariff on Chinese products, making it urgent for battery companies to find U.S.-localized suppliers.

A HiSonic representative stated, “We understand that the global battery company we are currently collaborating with has decided to work only with localized suppliers for U.S. projects to avoid the impact of Trump’s universal tariffs,” adding, “Accordingly, we expect to secure a competitive edge not only in the existing ESS project but also in prismatic and cylindrical projects for automotive applications.”

He continued, “Once the Trump administration officially begins, as a company that has completed U.S. localization, we anticipate additional benefits,” and added, “We are also exploring collaboration possibilities related to secondary battery components with other global companies, so we expect this trend to increase further in the future.”
