Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 10th that it received the ‘Honorary Grand Prize for Red Cross Member Meritorious Service’ from the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korean Red Cross at the 2025 Red Cross Special Membership Fee Presentation Ceremony held on the 9th.

This presentation ceremony was organized to realize the meaning of sharing and love through Goyang Special City’s special membership fee donation and to encourage active participation from citizens during the intensive fundraising period for the 2025 Red Cross membership fees, which is taking place from December 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.

The ‘Honorary Grand Prize for Red Cross Member Meritorious Service’ awarded on this day is a decoration given to individuals and organizations who have contributed to Red Cross fundraising and humanitarian social activities by donating a cumulative amount of 100 million KRW or more. Goyang City has participated in various activities of the Korean Red Cross, including donating 128 million KRW last year for relief funds for the Turkey-Syria earthquake disaster.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, who presented the special membership fee, said, “We appreciate the Korean Red Cross’s dedication to the local community through leading disaster and emergency response activities, various social volunteer services caring for neighbors in need, and medical projects.” He added, “I hope more citizens will participate in the 2025 Red Cross membership fee fundraising so that the culture of sharing spreads and brings hope and warmth to our society.”

The special membership fees delivered will be used for various humanitarian activities of the Red Cross, including emergency disaster relief efforts, support for vulnerable groups, and blood services.
