December is the Month to Pay Car Taxes ? Don’t Forget to Pay!

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) has urged residents to pay their regular December automobile tax within the deadline.

Automobile tax is levied twice a year (June and December), and the payment period for this second installment is from December 16 to December 31.

The tax applies to vehicle owners registered and reported in Mapo-gu as of December 1, who must pay the tax for the ownership period from July 1 to December 31, 2024.

Mapo-gu imposes automobile tax on approximately 55,000 vehicles, excluding those with an annual tax amount of 100,000 KRW or less such as compact cars and electric vehicles (which are fully taxed during the first installment), and vehicles that have prepaid their 2024 annual tax.

Payments can be made by visiting any bank nationwide, through the internet site (ETAX), mobile app (STAX), simple payment apps (KakaoPay, NaverPay, Samsung Pay, Toss Pay, etc.), or ARS. Additionally, payments can be conveniently made using unmanned payment machines, cash withdrawal machines (CD/ATM), or the dedicated account number listed on the tax notice.

For reissuance of regular automobile tax bills, inquiries about dedicated accounts, or other questions, residents can contact the Mapo-gu Local Income Tax Division or the Dasan Call Center for detailed assistance.

Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu stated, “If the automobile tax payment deadline is missed, a 3% late payment penalty will be imposed, causing disadvantages, so we ask residents to pay within the deadline.” He added, “Mapo-gu will manage these valuable funds well so that they can be used for the happiness of the residents.”
