Chairman Uh Ki-gu Selected as Outstanding Member for National Assembly Audit by Korean Advanced Farmers Federation

Selected for Four Consecutive Years Since 2021... "Doing Our Best to Increase Farmers' Income"

National Assembly Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee Chairman Eo Gigu (Democratic Party of Korea, Dangjin-si, Chungnam) was selected as an Outstanding National Assembly Member for the 2024 National Assembly Audit by the Korea Advanced Farmers Federation, marking his fourth consecutive win since 2021.

Since 2006, the Korea Advanced Farmers Federation has held annual award ceremonies to discover political leaders representing the agricultural sector. They select outstanding National Assembly members who have thoroughly examined agricultural policies during the National Assembly audit and presented constructive questions and policy alternatives.

Chairman Eo Gigu has urged improvements and proposed alternatives on major agricultural issues through the National Assembly audit, such as stabilizing the prices of agricultural products like rice and cabbage, recognizing brown planthopper damage as an agricultural disaster, innovating agricultural product distribution structures, and reconsidering the expansion of the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) policy.

In particular, as the chairman of the committee, he demonstrated stable leadership in managing the National Assembly audit and led a field-oriented audit focused on people's livelihoods by visiting the Rice Processing Complex (RPC) in Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do to listen to voices from the field for rice price stabilization.

Chairman Eo Gigu stated, "I will continue to do my best to protect our agriculture and rural communities, create a stable farming environment for farmers, and increase farm household income."
