According to the police and fire authorities on the 9th, at around 9:19 a.m. that day, a truck slipped forward on a ramp on the first basement floor of an outlet in Munbal-dong, Paju, and collided with a front pillar.
As a result of the accident, the truck driver, a man in his 70s identified as Mr. A, was transported to the hospital conscious but ultimately died.
Investigations revealed that at the time of the accident, Mr. A had briefly left the driver's seat to open the parking barrier.
The police believe that upon seeing the truck rolling forward, Mr. A hurried back to the driver's seat to stop it but failed to do so and collided with a parking lot pillar.
A police official said, "The driver fell out of the vehicle immediately after the accident, and it appears he died from the impact," adding, "We are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident, including whether the brakes were applied and gear changes were made."
