First, the Lifelong Learning Social Contribution Group, which won the ‘Good Policy Award for Lifelong Learning Cities in Korea’ for two consecutive years, connected various human resources in the local community such as cultural and artistic activities, dementia prevention education, and reading support with the necessary institutions, leading citizens' voluntary participation and the co-growth of individuals and the community.

Additionally, the lifelong learning support fund, which provided opportunities for self-development and learning to citizens facing economic and social difficulties, contributed to realizing lifelong learning enjoyed by all without blind spots, and it is expected to greatly contribute to improving early childhood education in Gwangju City by attracting early childhood experience programs in eastern Gyeonggi.

Furthermore, to foster talents suitable for the 4th Industrial Revolution era and build future-oriented educational infrastructure, a total of KRW 19.5 billion was supported this year for 59 elementary, middle, and high schools. The selection of Gwangju Jungang High School as an ‘Autonomous Public High School 2.0’ is evaluated as an innovation in public education utilizing local resources as an autonomous educational model for public high schools.

In addition, the 2025 Gwangju University Entrance Exam Fair will be held to provide practical and accurate college admission information to examinees and parents, reducing private education expenses and improving access to educational information. Along with this, the Gwangju Youth Festival, planned and operated directly by youth and young adults, will provide opportunities for the future generation to showcase their talents. Efforts will be made to further develop this by inviting youth from sister cities for cultural exchange and fostering global talents.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “The Gwangju Lifelong Learning Center, currently under construction in Songjeong Park and scheduled to open in March next year, is expected to play the role of a new control tower for lifelong learning in Gwangju as the importance of lifelong learning grows in our rapidly changing society.” He added, “We will continue various efforts to create a smart premium educational city where three generations can be happy, aiming to establish a future-leading educational city.”

Meanwhile, Gwangju City’s e-Policy Communication can be viewed through the official Gwangju City Hall YouTube channel and SNS.
