The All-Star Game, the festival of professional baseball stars, will be held at the newly constructed baseball stadium in Daejeon, which is scheduled for completion next year.
On the 9th, the Daejeon city government announced at city hall that it had signed a mutual cooperation agreement with the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) for the hosting of the '2025 KBO All-Star Game'.
The selection of the host city for the '2025 KBO All-Star Game' was conducted through a public bidding process for the first time, departing from the previous method in which the KBO selected the location in consultation with the clubs. Daejeon was chosen as the host city for 2025 by proposing the necessity of hosting the event in conjunction with the opening of the new stadium and promising full administrative support.
This will be the fourth time the KBO All-Star Game is held in Daejeon (after 1984, 2003, and 2012), and it will take place at a newly constructed stadium for the first time in 61 years since the opening of Hanbat Baseball Stadium in 1964.
Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, "The people of Daejeon are known nationwide for their exceptional love of baseball. Since 2025 marks the meaningful opening of the new baseball stadium, we will thoroughly prepare to ensure that the event becomes not just a baseball game but a true festival, making the All-Star Game a great success."
