A representative of the Police Agency's Special Investigation Unit said at the emergency martial law investigation press briefing that day, in response to the question, "Does Chief Jo receive reports on the case?" "The Police Chief does not have specific investigative command authority and is diligently investigating under the direction of the National Investigation Headquarters Chief," he said.
The representative explained about the investigation of Chief Jo and Kim Bong-sik, Chief of the Seoul Police Agency, "We cannot specify exactly when it will take place, but it is planned to proceed," and added, "Forensic analysis is underway on the voluntarily submitted mobile phones."
Regarding the decision not to impose travel bans on the police leadership, the representative said, "There is an urgent issue of deciding who should be prioritized," and added, "It is under review."
