Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 9th that it will pay carbon neutrality point rewards for the second half of 2024 to 2,641 households and three apartment complexes with excellent greenhouse gas reduction performance.
Cash or Green Card points are awarded based on reduction performance in the energy sector (electricity, water, gas usage) and the automobile sector (driving distance). Households can receive up to 50,000 KRW for energy savings (general household use) and up to 100,000 KRW for automobiles, and participation is available through the official website.
In the second half of this year, a total of 42.76 million KRW will be paid to 2,641 households that meet the energy reduction criteria. Rewards will be given to Hwawon I-Park 2nd Complex Apartment (1.2 million KRW), Yongam Village 16 Complex Apartment (400,000 KRW), and the Korea Petroleum Management Institute Northern Metropolitan Headquarters (100,000 KRW) for outstanding energy reduction performance.
Earlier, in the first half of the year, the city paid 37.25 million KRW to 2,708 households that met the greenhouse gas reduction standards in the energy sector. On the 5th, 12.2 million KRW was paid to 171 participants in the automobile sector carbon neutrality point system who reduced their annual driving distance.
Kim Bo-kyung, Director of the Climate Energy Division, said, “We hope many citizens will participate in the carbon neutrality point system, which helps protect the environment by saving energy and also provides rewards.”
