[Special Stock] JYP Faces 'Double Trouble' with Girl Group Lawsuit Amid Impeachment Crisis

Amid the impeachment turmoil, JYP Ent. (JYP) is facing compounded difficulties as a member of the multinational girl group VCHA has filed a lawsuit alleging abuse.

As of 10:21 AM on the 9th, JYP is trading on the KOSDAQ market at 68,400 KRW, down 4,000 KRW (5.52%) from the previous close.

Previously, VCHA was formed last year through the joint survival audition A2K by JYP and the US-based label Republic Records, officially debuting in January this year.

Member KG posted a statement on her SNS (social networking service), saying, "After experiencing abuse from certain staff members, I decided to terminate my contract and leave VCHA, and have filed a lawsuit. I made this decision in May and am still waiting for the contract termination. I am worried about the girls remaining in VCHA."

On the same day (the 9th), JYP released an official statement from JYP USA, stating, "In May, KG left the group's dormitory and requested discussions through her legal representative. Accordingly, we temporarily suspended VCHA's future activities and have been discussing various solutions with KG's representatives. However, recently, we have not received any responses from KG's side regarding the discussions, and our representatives have been waiting for a reply."

They continued, "In this situation, we deeply regret that KG has unilaterally publicized false and exaggerated claims externally and has chosen to pursue legal action. This has caused significant harm to the other VCHA members and our company, who have been diligently preparing for the album release and various plans scheduled for the first half of 2025."

JYP USA added, "We would like to inform you that we plan to take all necessary measures to prevent further damage to the other VCHA members and our company due to this matter."
