People Power Party's Kim Jaeseop, who abstained from voting on President Yoon's impeachment on the 7th,
tells Yoon Sanghyun, "I'm getting a lot of criticism in the region"
"It may be like this now, but it will change after a year" remarks
On the 7th, Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party who abstained from voting on the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol, said, "Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and a year from now, the people will change again."
On the 8th, Representative Yoon spoke about the political impact of his abstention from the impeachment vote on a YouTube channel run by lawyer Bae Seung-hee. He expressed opposition to the impeachment, saying about President Yoon, "If he has done wrong, he should undergo investigation as a subject of judicial judgment, and regarding the political environment, we should unite our minds and move forward."
He also shared a conversation he had with Representative Kim Jae-seop of the People Power Party. When Kim asked, "Hyung, I am being heavily criticized in my region after abstaining from the impeachment vote against President Yoon. What should I do?" Yoon replied, "I also opposed the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye and stood against it until the end. I was heavily criticized then. But a year later, everyone said, 'Yoon Sang-hyun is loyal and good,' and even when I ran as an independent, they all voted for me." He added, "It may be like that now, but tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and a year from now, the people will change again," and "Of course, it depends on what we do."
He told Kim, "We brought the president here. So cutting ties now, discarding and abandoning him is cowardly politics," and added, "It is our duty as lawmakers to help this person escape this situation with dignity. That is the minimum courtesy." He also stated, "I tried to protect President Park until the end, and I intend to protect President Yoon until the end."
It was also reported that at a closed-door People Power Party lawmakers' meeting held the previous day, Representative Yoon said, "The minimum courtesy is to properly explain the president's intentions, have him clearly judged at the legal judgment stage, and help him resolve this situation with true dignity."
