"No Authority to Exclude the President from Duties"
"Beginners' Rivalry Led to This Situation"
“(Han Dong-hoon) You also step down (from your position).”
Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, raised the issue of responsibility for Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, and urged him to resign.
On the 8th, Mayor Hong wrote on his Facebook, "Instead of that, you also step down. Isn't this situation caused by a rookie president and a rookie party leader clashing with each other to this extent?" he directly criticized.
He continued, "How do you (Han Dong-hoon) have the authority to suspend the duties of a president elected by the people?" and pointed out that the only way to suspend the president's duties is "through impeachment procedures." He criticized Han Dong-hoon, who advocated for suspending the president's duties, saying, "Is it reasonable to threaten the government by wavering on impeachment and using just 8 votes as bait?"
He also said, "The people of the Republic of Korea never entrusted you with the government. Only party members entrusted you with party affairs," and added, "If the entrusted party affairs were managed arbitrarily and led to a clash with the president resulting in an impeachment crisis, naturally the party leader should also take responsibility and resign. Even during Park Geun-hye's impeachment, the party leader resigned," he asserted.

Mayor Hong emphasized again, "Chu Kyung-ho is resigning, so why don't you take responsibility?" "Resign before more confusion arises," and "Resigning is responsible politics."

Earlier that day, Han Dong-hoon gave a public statement saying, "Until the president steps down, the prime minister will closely consult with the party to manage the people's livelihood and government affairs without disruption," and "Even before the resignation, the president will not be involved in government affairs, including diplomacy."
Regarding this, Cheon Ha-ram, floor leader of the Reform New Party, pointed out, "It is unconstitutional for the prime minister, who should obey the president's orders, to take away the president's authority, especially diplomatic rights, without following the impeachment and acting president procedures stipulated in the constitution."
Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, also targeted Han Dong-hoon, saying, "It is pitiful to see someone who desperately wants to act as a 'shadow president' and claims to be the successor of Prigozhin, who is worse than Prigozhin." He added, "The moment the people feel that even impeachment is a luxury, the position of the coup forces will further diminish." Yevgeny Prigozhin is the head of the Wagner private military company who led an armed rebellion in Russia on June 24 last year but stopped after one day.
