Yongsan-gu Selects Team Leaders Choi Hyang-min and Jo Ui-hyeon as 'Cheongbaek Public Officials' Awardees

Contributing to District Development with Integrity and Service Spirit
Award Ceremony at Yongsan Art Hall on the 31st of This Month

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 8th that Choi Hyang-min, head of the Cultural Policy Team, and Jo Ui-hyun, head of the Ichon 2-dong Life Welfare Team, were selected as recipients of the ‘Yongsan-gu Cheongbaek Public Official Award.’


Choi Hyang-min, who won the grand prize, began his public service career in Yongsan-gu in 1996 and has worked for 28 years in various fields such as urban development, welfare, and community service centers, performing his duties with integrity and without any misconduct. The district evaluated that Choi made significant contributions to the development of Yongsan-gu through housing maintenance, establishing the basic plan for the Yongsan Cultural Foundation, and supporting the successful hosting of various cultural events.

Jo Ui-hyun, who received the main prize, is an 18-year public official who started working in Yongsan-gu in 2006 and has achieved outstanding results in various fields such as planning, auditing, and personnel. Jo has devoted himself to the development of district administration by implementing the 8th term organizational restructuring, overseeing the Yongsan-gu epidemiological investigation team during COVID-19, and winning awards at the Seoul City Integrity Practice Excellence Competition.


The district received nominations for the 14th Cheongbaek Public Official Award from September 27 to October 18, conducting document screening and public verification procedures. On the 14th of last month, the awardees were finalized at the Cheongbaek Public Official Award Review Committee meeting, which included 11 external members.


The district will hold an awards ceremony on the 31st of this month at the Mir Theater in Yongsan Art Hall, presenting the recipients with the mayor’s commendation and prize money (2 million KRW for the grand prize, 1 million KRW for the main prize). Awardees will also receive preferential treatment in personnel matters, such as priority placement in desired departments and recommendations for overseas training.


Since 2011, Yongsan-gu has been selecting and awarding public officials who demonstrate integrity, serve as role models in both public and private life, and dedicate themselves to society, in order to foster a sound and trusted public service culture.


Mayor Park Hee-young stated, “To gain the trust of residents and maintain dignity as public officials, a culture of integrity must first be established. The Cheongbaek Public Official Award recipients are public officials who have quietly practiced this. We will continue to discover public officials who embody the ‘Cheongbaek spirit,’ the foremost virtue that public officials must uphold, and strive to create a culture of integrity in public service.”
