Democratic Party to Push Party Resolution for Impeachment of Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min

On the 6th, the Democratic Party of Korea held a party caucus at the National Assembly main building and decided to push for the impeachment of Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min as the party's official stance. Roh Jong-myeon, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, told reporters immediately after the caucus held at the National Assembly in the afternoon, "We have passed the impeachment of Minister Lee Sang-min as the party's official stance."

Regarding the reason for pushing the impeachment, Spokesperson Roh said, "Minister Lee is strongly suspected of sympathizing with the emergency martial law rebellion," and added, "Even when appearing before the National Assembly, he defended President Yoon Seok-yeol by calling it a 'legitimate exercise of presidential authority,' and it seems he also agreed to the appointment of (Park An-su) as the martial law commander." He said, "The decision was unanimous."

The Democratic Party plans to push for a vote on President Yoon's impeachment motion at the plenary session of the National Assembly at 5 p.m. on the 7th. Spokesperson Roh said, "We cannot just wait for the People Power Party's position, so we will hold the plenary session without fail at 5 p.m. on the 7th, as announced to the media today." However, Roh also mentioned, "There is also a tacit understanding that if the situation allows, the session could be moved earlier than 5 p.m."
