The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters seized the mobile phones of Police Chief Jo Ji-ho, Seoul Police Chief Kim Bong-sik, and National Assembly Security Commander Mok Hyun-tae on the 6th in connection with the emergency martial law incident.
The National Investigation Headquarters' Security Investigation Division stated that they obtained the three individuals' mobile phones voluntarily submitted on the same day.
The National Investigation Headquarters formed a dedicated investigation team to investigate the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident.' Currently, there are a total of four reported cases related to the emergency martial law. The complainants include 59 people such as members of the Democratic Party of Korea, the Party for Justice and Innovation, the Progressive Party, and the chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions. The charges include rebellion and abuse of authority under the Criminal Act, and rebellion under the Military Criminal Act.
Yang Bu-nam, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, requested Woo Jong-su, head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, at the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee plenary meeting the previous day, to apply for search warrants to seize the mobile phones of the Police Chief, Seoul Police Chief, and other related persons.
Chief Jo responded, "I received instructions regarding the control of the National Assembly from the martial law commander via mobile phone," and Chief Kim said, "I was contacted through the head of the Security Bureau at the headquarters. I also spoke with Chief Jo via mobile phone," adding, "I give instructions to the National Assembly Security Commander via radio."
Head Woo replied, "I told the Security Investigation Division of the Police Agency to urgently review what actions need to be taken."
