The award ceremony was held to encourage the achievements of groups participating in the urban agriculture box garden distribution project and the Little Farmer School, aiming to promote urban-rural exchange and revitalize urban agriculture.

In the urban agriculture box garden project, the Public Hoecheon Hanyang Sujain Daycare Center won the Grand Prize, the Public Okjeong Daycare Center won the Excellence Award, and the Public Class I Daycare Center, Public Edufore Daycare Center, and Public Gomduri Daycare Center each received Encouragement Awards. Additionally, among the Little Farmer Schools, the Public Kkumoa Daycare Center was honored with the Grand Prize.

The Delicious Garden Drawing Contest was conducted as part of the box garden distribution project carried out since the first half of this year to raise awareness of the importance of agriculture as a life industry, with 726 children participating from September 2 to 6.

More than 200 works, including the award-winning pieces and finalists, were exhibited at the Nari Farm Pumpkin Tunnel from September 27 to October 20, attracting the attention of visitors.

The winners of this contest included Grand Prize winner Kim Ah-rin (Public Haengbok Hana Daycare Center), Grand Excellence Award winner Kim Na-rin (Public Rachel I Daycare Center), and a total of 12 children receiving Excellence and Encouragement Awards.

Entries were evaluated based on creativity, color sense, and expressiveness, focusing on relevance to the theme. The winning works were selected as those freely expressing experiences from activities in the box gardens. For institutional awards, the Public Hoecheon Daycare Center won the Grand Excellence Award, the Public Yurim Forest Daycare Center won the Excellence Award, and the Yangju Miso Daycare Center received the Encouragement Award.

Kim Hwa-eun, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “If children learn the meaning of ‘the preciousness of life’ and ‘healthy food’ together with box gardens from an early age, they can grow into adults with proper values.” She added, “By linking agriculture and education, we hope urban agriculture culture will spread, playing a significant role in fostering children’s character and emotional development as well as improving dietary habits, creating opportunities for coexistence between urban and rural areas.”
