Expectations for Establishing an Eco-Friendly Festival Culture and Accelerating a Circular Economy Society

This agreement was made as both institutions reached a consensus aiming for a transition to a sustainable circular economy society. The MOU, signed in the presence of Seo Tae-won, Governor of Gapyeong-gun, and Kim Dong-gu, Director of the Hangang River Basin Environmental Office, includes △ sharing information on representative local festivals △ promoting the use of reusable containers at festival sites △ financial and administrative support measures for operating festivals without disposable products.
Gapyeong-gun holds various cultural and artistic festivals annually centered around Jarasum. In particular, this year, the Jarasum Flower Festa introduced the use of reusable cups for the first time, leading an eco-friendly festival culture.
Taking this agreement as an opportunity, Gapyeong-gun plans to establish concrete action plans to reduce disposable products generated at festivals and expand a sustainable festival culture that considers environmental protection and resource recycling.
Governor Seo Tae-won said, “Gapyeong-gun is a beautiful area where nature and culture harmonize, and through this agreement, we will do our best to ensure that eco-friendly festivals are successfully established.”
