The Democratic Party of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly stated, "President Yoon Seok-yeol's declaration of martial law is a declaration of war against the people, a blatant act of rebellion that tramples on the Constitution of the Republic of Korea and attempts to overthrow the state," and urged, "Rebel leader President Yoon Seok-yeol must step down immediately."
At a press conference on the 6th, the Democratic Party of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly lamented, "On the late night of December 3rd, President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law, deploying armored vehicles in the heart of Seoul, and armed airborne troops were sent into the National Assembly, the hall of popular sovereignty, breaking the windows of the main building and storming inside."
They continued, "It was the moment when democracy, won through the blood and sweat of the people, collapsed," and pointed out, "There was even a dizzying moment when the military, which is supposed to protect the lives and safety of the people, aimed their gun barrels at the people's chests."
In particular, they claimed, "President Yoon Seok-yeol labeled the National Assembly, the hall of popular sovereignty, and critical forces as pro-North, anti-state elements and declared them targets to be eradicated," adding, "A president with a support rate of just about 20% defined the majority of the people as enemies to be eliminated. President Yoon led the trampling of the constitutional order and liberal democracy that the Republic of Korea has achieved over a long time."

They also stated, "The martial law command includes provisions prohibiting the activities of local councils," and expressed regret, saying, "It is lamentable that local autonomy is regarded only as a target to be suppressed and oppressed for the sake of maintaining his own power."
Furthermore, they added, "According to the martial law proclamation, violators of the proclamation can be arrested, detained, and searched without a warrant under Article 9 of the Martial Law Act of the Republic of Korea, and punished according to Article 14 of the Martial Law Act."
The Democratic Party of Gyeonggi Assembly questioned, "Who is punishing whom?" and said, "The citizens of Gwangju reportedly shuddered recalling the martial law troops that stormed Gwangju in 1980 when they saw the martial law proclamation that brutally threatened the people. This declaration of martial law is a clear act of rebellion in which the president, the guardian of the Constitution, has extensively and seriously violated the Constitution and laws."
They emphasized, "President Yoon Seok-yeol did not notify the National Assembly at all, despite Article 77, Paragraph 4 of the Constitution and Article 4, Paragraph 1 of the Martial Law Act requiring that 'when martial law is declared, the National Assembly must be notified without delay,' and he also failed to hold a State Council meeting, which is mandatory before declaring martial law."
Therefore, they promised, "To protect the democracy and constitutional order of the Republic of Korea, the Democratic Party of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly will stand at the forefront with the people and fight until the day President Yoon Seok-yeol steps down," and proposed, "We will also unite and struggle together with all metropolitan and basic councils nationwide."
