Gwangju City Opens Public Recruitment for 69 Citizen Participation Budget Committee Members

Gwangju City announced on the 6th that it will publicly recruit 69 members of the 8th Citizen Participation Budget Committee, who directly participate in the budget process, until the 19th.

The Citizen Participation Budget Committee is composed of up to 100 members, including 22 recommended members, 9 ex officio members, and 69 publicly recruited members. They can directly participate in the budget process by collecting opinions on the main budget formulation, reviewing citizen participation budget proposal projects, adjusting priorities, and providing opinions on major projects.

The selection criteria consider socially disadvantaged groups, gender, age, and regional balance. Final selection is made through a first document screening to verify eligibility such as address and local tax delinquency, followed by a second random electronic draw.

Applications are open to anyone who wishes to participate among citizens residing in Gwangju or representatives or employees of workplaces located in Gwangju as of the announcement date (November 28). Selected members will begin their committee activities after budget education to familiarize themselves with the budget formulation process, and the term of office is two years from the date of appointment.
