Gwangju Urban Corporation held a joint "Respect for Human Rights Culture Campaign" on the 6th at Sangmu Station in Seo-gu, together with the Gwangju Human Rights Office of the National Human Rights Commission and Gwangju Transportation Corporation.
The campaign, under the slogan "Love My Human Rights, Respect Everyone's Human Rights," was planned to raise awareness of human rights in citizens' daily lives and to foster a human rights-friendly urban culture.
About 30 employees, mainly from the Human Rights Guardians within Gwangju Urban Corporation, actively promoted the campaign to citizens starting at 3 p.m. that day.
Participants wore sashes bearing the slogan and carried placards with various human rights messages as they walked through the streets. In particular, the leaflets distributed that day clearly summarized the corporation's Human Rights Management Charter and easy-to-practice ways to respect human rights in daily life, receiving positive responses from citizens.
Kim Seung-nam, president of Gwangju Urban Corporation, stated, "Through this campaign, I hope the value of respecting human rights will take deeper root in citizens' daily lives," and added, "We will continue to actively promote human rights management and become a leading public enterprise in human rights management where citizens want to stay and participate together."
