Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) held a forum on "Spatial Welfare in Preparation for a Super-Aged Society" on the 6th at the GH headquarters in Gwanggyo, Suwon.
This forum was organized to respond to social changes such as the arrival of a super-aged society in 2025 (when the population aged 65 and over accounts for more than 20% of the total population) and the rapid increase in the late elderly population aged 85 and over due to increased life expectancy.
The presenters on the day included ▲ Professor Kim Jun-woo of Daegu University (Analysis of the current status and considerations for site selection of elderly welfare housing) ▲ Yoon Young-ho, Director of the Housing Research Institute at the Korean Housing Association (Analysis of domestic and international related case studies and application plans) ▲ Professor Yoo Hae-yeon of Soongsil University (Demand analysis and implications for residents of elderly welfare housing) ▲ Lee Sang-hak, CEO of Group Seal (Architectural guidelines for developing elderly welfare housing models).

GH plans to introduce the "GH Elderly Welfare Housing" model by applying the concept of spatial welfare to existing elderly welfare housing, which combines convenience facilities for vulnerable residents and social welfare facilities.
They intend to apply differentiated GH elderly welfare housing to the 3rd phase new towns by establishing specialized design guidelines for elderly welfare housing, pilot project application plans, and strategies for selecting operating businesses.
Kim Hye-jung, Director of GH Spatial Welfare Planning Project, emphasized, "While existing elderly welfare housing focuses on care, GH Elderly Welfare Housing will be developed in a way that allows the super-aged society and the baby boomer generation to enjoy both care and spatial welfare in their daily lives, creating a unique elderly welfare housing model exclusive to GH."
