The National Academy of Engineering Hosts the 12th Korea-ASEAN Engineering Forum

On the 9th at Samjeong Hotel... Toss Securities, Coupang Pay, and Others Participate

The National Academy of Engineering of Korea will hold a forum on Korea-ASEAN digital trade cooperation with the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET) in Seoul.


The National Academy of Engineering Hosts the 12th Korea-ASEAN Engineering Forum

The Academy of Engineering announced on the 6th that it will co-host the Korea-ASEAN Engineering Forum at the Samjung Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 9th.


Marking its 12th session, this forum will focus on the digital trade sector, which is being fully implemented starting this year. About 10 experts, including corporate officials, will attend. Song Kyung-hee, head of the AI Reliability Center at Sungkyunkwan University, Park Jae-woo, professor at Hanyang University, and Oh Ei Sun, senior advisor at the Malaysia Pacific Research Center, will serve as chairs for the three sessions.


In Session 1, which covers policy, Gong Jin-ho, counselor at the Korean Mission to ASEAN, will appear as a domestic speaker. He will present directions to strengthen Korea-ASEAN digital cooperation. He will also present projects related to the Korean government's digital wellness and cybersecurity initiatives. Counselor Gong, formerly head of the Information and Communication Industry Infrastructure Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT, oversees the 'Korea-ASEAN Digital Innovation Flagship Project,' agreed upon at last year's Korea-ASEAN summit.


In Session 2, which covers technology, technology and information security officers from online platform companies will introduce Korean companies' digital technologies. Oh Chang-hoon, CTO of Toss Securities, will present on "Customer-Centered Financial Services Suitable for the Digital Era." Seo Wan-seok, CISO of Coupang Pay, will present on "Cultural Insights for Optimizing Payment Strategies in Overseas Markets."


In Session 3, which covers industry, leaders of Korea-ASEAN representative deep-tech startups will take the stage. Kim Jong-yoon, CEO of Yanolja Cloud, will introduce AI solutions that automate travel operations through cloud-based software and connected services applying big data technology. Cha-Ly Koh, founder and CEO of Urbanmetry, a Malaysian data analytics startup, will present strategies to optimize resource allocation and urban planning in Southeast Asia using AI and big data.


Kim Ki-nam, president of the National Academy of Engineering, said, "With the ASEAN digital economy expected to reach 1 trillion dollars (about 1,420 trillion won) by 2030, digital trade cooperation with ASEAN is essential," adding, "We hope the forum will serve as a stepping stone to solving Korea-ASEAN digital trade cooperation challenges."
